Melnia Cordis is an internationally trained attorney who was first called to the bar in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 1997. Whilst there, she practiced as a criminal attorney working primarily on extradition matters. She also practiced in the Republic of Guyana from 1998 to 2003 as a general practice attorney with the Georgetown Legal Aid Clinic conducting matters such as divorces, domestic violence, custody, estate succession, adoptions and property disputes. Melnia migrated to the United States in 2003 and was admitted to the New York Bar in 2004 where-after she worked briefly as an associate attorney at the Robert Plan then as a no-fault trial attorney for Countrywide Insurance Company. In 2008 Ms. Cordis was promoted to Litigation Supervisor at Countrywide, a position she held until joining National General Insurance Company where she worked until June 30, 2018.

Melnia Cordis has over twenty (20) years of litigation experience in the courts of Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and New York State. She is skilled in the formation of non-profit organizations and obtaining the tax-exempt certification, family and religious immigration, international adoptions, will preparation and estate administration.

Melnia Cordis has served as the Vice President of Programs for the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and as its Director for Community Services. She currently acts as Director for her high school alumni, President College’s Alumni Inc., a non-profit organization, which she incorporated.
Ms. Cordis holds a Masters of Science degree in Non-Profit management.

SANDRA
KURTZIOUS

Hon. SANDRA ELIZABETH KURTZIOUS, obtained her LLB Degree at UWI Cave Hill Campus during the year 1991, and her Legal Education Certificate at the Hugh Wooding Law School during the year 1993.
She was admitted to practice at the bar of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the 7th October 1993.

Ms Kurtzious was employed with the Guyana National Co-operative Bank, from the year 1993 to 1999, when she became the Managing Director of the Guyana Legal Aid Clinic. She relinquished this position during the year 2003, when she entered into private practice. Her main focus being Family Law, Estates and Conveyancing matters.

On the 28th October, 2012, Ms Kurtzious was appointed a Puisne Judge of the High Court of the Supreme Court of Judicature, Guyana, and she presided in the Specialised Family Court, but also did stints for period of three months, in the Civil and Criminal Court, presiding in the Counties of Demerara, Berbice and Essequibo, up to the time of her retirement on the 11th February, 2024.
Hon Justice Kurtzious, is a member of several associations, some of which are the Caribbean Association of Judicial Officers (CAJO), the Commonwealth Magistrates & Judges Association (CMJA), the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the International Association of Women Judges ( IAWJ), the Caribbean Association of Wom:en Judges (CAWJ) the Guyana Association of Women Judges (GAWJ, and the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL).

She has attended and participated in several conferences and workshops in Guyana and in several other countries. Thus gaining wide knowledge and experience in the jurisprudence in Guyana and other countries.
​
Hon Sandra Kurtzious is also a Trained Mediator, and a Minister of Religion. She is the current President of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana, and has been a member of the Executive Council of the ELCG, since the year 2000.
